Roosevelt Athletics

Roosevelt Middle School recognizes the importance of athletic activities in providing students with important opportunities for a total education. These activities teach our students the lifetime values such as commitment, discipline, hard work, leadership, teamwork, and physical fitness, all of which are the foundation for academic success. Participation in athletic activities contributes to the physical, emotional, and social health of our students and promotes a sense of unity and cooperation among athletes, the student body, and the community.  Students try out for the limited number of spots on each team.  Coaches will select the few they believe will make the best team and the coaches’ decisions are final.  All team members will get playing time during the season but not all students will play in every game and playing time will not be equal for all team members.

Roosevelt offers these sports:

  • Boys' Basketball
  • Girls' Basketball
  • Cheerleading
    • The cheer team provides students with the means to spread school spirit at Roosevelt through performing at lunchtime rallies, after-school games, and other events throughout the year. The team will also have the opportunity to gain experience through working with high school cheerleaders in our district during practices. The team is composed of 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students who exhibit a strong work ethic and demonstrate positive behavior. Practices are held after school on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm where members will learn sideline cheers and basic stunting skills.
